If I want to stay at home to take care of my young children will the judge calculate child support as if I was working?

The judge doesn’t have to impute income to someone (ie calculate child support as if the person is working) who stays home to take care of young kids. But it is up to the court as to whether to impute or not. A spouse can argue that income should be imputed because quality childcare is available at reasonable cost and that the kids will be ok with this daycare.
